Role
Design, Hand Painted, Colour Separation & Seamless Repeat Layout

This design draws inspiration from the controlled flow of paint found in tie dye and shibori techniques.
Using pigmented watercolours, I aimed to recreate the fluid movement of the paint and and emphasise negative spaces on paper, instead of the traditionally used tied and twisted, or folded fabric.
After painting, the design was scanned, colour separated, and arranged into a production ready repeat pattern using Photoshop.
After previously working with mountain bike apparel brand DHaRCO on a different commission, they licensed this painted print from my print catalogue.
It was used for the jerseys of both the Commencal/Muc Off team at Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup in 2022, and the La Pierre Zip Collective Enduro World Series team in 2023.
By colour separating the design it makes it much easier for them to change the colours while keeping the design intact. In this case they used the design in four different colour ways, over the course of four different DH World Cup races.
